Novel Writing Sprints Breakdown:
Total fingers on the keyboard time: 1 hour and 11 minutes. Total words: 1,817. Words per hour: 1,535.
10:03 – I just got to the library and found the right corner, where there is plenty of light, but no one should be able to look over my shoulder while I’m working. Not that someone would try, but the thought it happening would distract me. The chair setup will take a little while to get use to; it has a spinning desk top attached to the left arm of the chair which swings over, but only covers half my lap. However, any negatives aside, the quite atmosphere and lack of distractions should prove invaluable to my productivity.
10:23 – Well it worked for about fifteen minutes, but now there’s an older woman less than two feet away from me looking for books. The feeling of having someone watch me while I work is too much to take. I end up feeling like there is a spider on the back of my neck crawling around.
10:49 – Seriously! I know I’m young, but that doesn’t mean I know everything there is to know about computers. I mean I do know quite a bit, due to being a trained network technician, but a random stranger doesn’t know that. I was in the middle of a great flow, and this old dude interrupts me to ask about his wifi. This setup might not work the way I had hoped. Regardless I’m knocking out words. I’m up to 917, which is almost half way for the day, and I’ve not even been here an hour.
11:32 – I’m up to 1,817 words. I’ve been chewing gum non-stop, but the cravings for a cigarette are pulling me out of the writing. Despite the two times I had a person here distract me, I’m going to say that the library is a great option for writing. I’ll bring my noise cancelling headphones next time, to help block out the outside world. I’ll write more at home, but for now I’m going to switch over to editing and see if that can help take my mind off these cravings.
16:30 – I never did get around to editing or writing more. I came back home, and have been laying in bed reading. It’s the most productive thing I could find to do while also taking my mind off the cravings. Fuck smoking!
