Finished chapter 3 of Sorcerer’s Trial, and it kicked my ass. This is the first point of the story where I don’t know what you write, and have to sit down and really think through the next few scenes to make sure they’re all building to the right finally. The end of this book should be a huge gut punch to my readers, but in a good way.Either way, I’ll get the book done on time; probably ahead of schedule.
I refuse to allow my fear of failure to hold me back from what I’m meant to do—write fucking books! Now that’s not to say I don’t experience fear & anxiety. In fact, anyone who doesn’t feel fear is someone to avoid. To lean into these clichés, “It’s only when we’re afraid that we can be brave.”
Self-pep out of the way. It’s time for the real business at hand. I need the fear of public shame to motivate myself to perceiver. Meaning: I’ll set my daily goals here, for all the world to see, and also report on them.
Orphan’s Price is available on Amazon for you to read and enjoy. This book represents hundreds of hours of work. Not just on my part, but my wonderful support team too, who help ensures the book is the best quality it could be. I’m eternally grateful to them, and to you my readers. Especially those of you have left a review. It means the world to me.
An orphaned boy, uncontrollable magic, and a destiny to recover a nation’s honor.
For sixteen-year-old Ren, life was a brutal slog in the orphanage. His only aspiration was to become a sorcerer.
But with no family connections, he had no chance…
Until, a freak magical accident drew the attention of international authorities.
Will Ren evade the authorities, and take his one chance to pass the ritual required to join the Amethyst sorcerers?
Or will his low birth doom him and the world?
Orphan’s Price is the first book in the Chronicles of the Seventh Realm, an epic fantasy series comprised of episodic short reads. Ren may be the “chosen one”, but Chronicles of the Seventh Realm is a sprawling series of characters with many tales to explore. This is the first book of Ren’s Tale.
Fun fact about being an author, or self employed in general, there are no paid sick days.
As I’m sure many of you are dealing with, February is a month of illness. Perhaps it’s just where I live, but I feel this flu season has been especially severe, with many in our community suffering from one sickness or another. While I’ve personally done an excellent job fighting off illness—keeping my immune system strong by taking extra vitamin C, drinking nearly a gallon of water per day, and sleeping at least 9 hours per night—my girlfriend and daughter have not been as lucky.
I’m a huge digital reader. I buy hardbacks as collector items, but I prefer to read digital books. Especially when I read on my phone. The smaller page size allows me to read faster than a print page, and with modern technology I can use text-to-speech software. In effect…
Orphan’s Price is officially a book. I’ve paid for a professional edit, cover design, and format. It’s currently available for preorder on Amazon for $2.99.
I’ve titled the first book of the 7th Realm series, An Orphan’s Price. The whole series will fall under the 7th Realm title, but I’d like to do something like Raymond E. Feist—create mini series within the larger story of the world. The first set will be five books, and I’m thinking I’ll include ‘Price’ in each title to link them all together.
