Four of Swords

Four of Swords

Tarot has become vital to my current writing project. To embody the knowledge I need for the project, I’m doing single card readings daily. Today marked the start of this process, and already I’m seeing wisdom in the cards.

Biddy Tarot

“The Four of Swords tells you to rest before you take on the next challenge. You have reached an important first milestone and must recharge your energy before the next phase begins, so you are refreshed and ready to go. Even if you are highly productive and driven, take time out from your busy schedule to restore your energy and heal the body and the mind. Constant stress and tension will break even the hardest and most resilient of people but brief periods of rest enable you to refresh your energy, concentration and focus so that you are ready for the next challenge.”

Yesterday marked the major shift in my novel from discovery and developmental world building, to the second act where the protagonist takes charge of his situation. (Not ready to talk about the details publicly. But you can get behind-the-scenes updates on Patreon.)

I should note that I’ve always considered myself a skeptic and driven by scientific principles of falsifiable hypotheses and building models based on those theories that have withstood rigorous attempts to tear them down. However, for the next twelve to twenty-four months, I’m committed to embracing the arcane arts and channeling that journey through my fiction.

The search for Truth has always been my primary drive, and what I’m attempting to develop within my fiction.

“Fiction is the lie through which we tell the truth.”

Action Plan

Today will become an off day. I’ve been going nonstop for seventeen days straight, so it’s probably time I allow myself a break. However, that doesn’t mean I’ll lie around sunbathing—or whatever it is normal people do to relax and recharge—instead I’ll spend today diving deep into learning. Research is how I manage stress. Learning is the driving factor that wakes me up in the morning. I have a desire to learn that motivates me to finish my work so I can justify digging into some new subject that’s caught my fancy this week.

Today that means I will dig deeper into Astrology and Tarot. Maybe how they are interconnected.

I always welcome any top notch book recommendations.
